Innovative Plaque Packaging for the Singapore Good Design Award
Designing for longevity and purpose is at the heart of what we do at Pass It On Studio. When tasked with creating the plaque packaging for the Singapore Good Design Award, we saw an opportunity to move beyond conventional packaging and craft something that embodied the values of sustainability and functionality.
A Packaging That Lives On
Traditional award packaging often serves a single-use purpose—protecting the award during the ceremony but ultimately ending up discarded. We sought to change this narrative by designing packaging that could seamlessly transition into an everyday storage box, extending its lifespan and reducing waste.
Thoughtful Material Choices
Every element of the packaging was carefully considered to ensure minimal environmental impact. The body of the bag was made from upcycled window blinds, giving discarded materials a new lease on life. The colored linings inside the bag were crafted from deadstock fabric, with different hues representing various award categories—an intentional and functional detail that added a unique touch to each award tier.
A New Standard for Award Packaging
By reimagining what award packaging can be, we hope to inspire a shift in how design recognition is celebrated. This project is a testament to how sustainable design can be both beautiful and practical, aligning with the values of those who receive the award.
At Pass It On Studio, we believe that good design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about impact, purpose, and the stories objects continue to tell long after their initial use. The Singapore Good Design Award plaque packaging is a small yet significant step toward a future where sustainability and design go hand in hand.
