Driving Sustainability Forward: Mercedes-Benz’s First Circular Dining Pop-Up in Singapore
At Pass It On Studio, we believe in pushing the boundaries of sustainability—not just in products, but in experiences that challenge the way we think about waste, design, and consumption. That’s why we were honored to bring to life Mercedes-Benz’s first-ever circular dining pop-up experience in Singapore, an immersive event that redefined what it means to dine sustainably.
From collaborating with forward-thinking creatives to designing eco-conscious furniture and tableware, this event was a showcase of circular design in action, blending innovation, craftsmanship, and sustainability into a one-of-a-kind dining journey.
A Dining Experience Rooted in Circularity
Held in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, the circular dining experience was a celebration of sustainable gastronomy. Every detail—from the food to the furnishings—was carefully curated to minimize waste while maximizing impact.
Engaging Visionary Creators
To bring this concept to life, we collaborated with:
👩🍳 Christina Rasmussen – The creative mind behind FURA, known for her pioneering work in fermentation and sustainable gastronomy.
🍸 Sasha Wijidessa – A visionary mixologist crafting cocktails that embrace innovative, zero-waste techniques.
Together, they designed a three-course plant-based feast, showcasing the potential of locally sourced ingredients while embracing sustainability at every step.
Sustainability Beyond the Plate
At Pass It On Studio, we took this opportunity to design the furniture and tableware that would complement this future-forward dining experience. Every piece was carefully crafted using biocomposite materials made from upcycled food waste, reflecting our commitment to circular design.
✅ Eco-Friendly Crockery – Plates and serving ware crafted from upcycled eggshells, coffee grounds, and rice husks, proving that waste can be transformed into beauty.
✅ Sustainable Furniture – Dining tables and chairs designed with reclaimed and biodegradable materials, merging aesthetics with environmental responsibility.
✅ Thoughtful Design Elements – The entire space was curated to emphasize material longevity, reusability, and waste reduction, embodying the circular economy principles that Mercedes-Benz champions.
Why Circular Design Matters
The circular dining concept is more than just a trend—it’s a necessary shift in how we approach consumption, design, and sustainability. Instead of following the traditional take-make-waste model, circular design focuses on reusing, repurposing, and regenerating.
💡 Key Takeaways from the Event:
🌱 Local sourcing reduces carbon footprint – By celebrating local ingredients, we support farmers and minimize transportation emissions.
♻️ Upcycled materials create new possibilities – From crockery to furniture, circular design proves that waste is a resource waiting to be reimagined.
🔄 Sustainability and luxury can coexist – Mercedes-Benz is redefining modern luxury with sustainability at its core, and this dining experience was a testament to that vision.
Pioneering the Future of Sustainable Experiences
This collaboration with Mercedes-Benz wasn’t just about a meal—it was about sparking conversations and paving the way for a more sustainable future. By integrating circular design principles into every element, we proved that sustainability isn’t a limitation—it’s an opportunity to innovate.
At Pass It On Studio, we’re committed to co-creating sustainable experiences that challenge conventions and inspire change. Whether it’s rethinking waste, designing for longevity, or crafting meaningful experiences, we believe the future of design is circular.
