"Ever since knowing that Yakushima was what inspired Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, I knew it was a place I had to visit in my lifetime. You could sense the magic in the air when you step into the forest filled with ancient trees and moss-covered floors. The cold and dewy environment creates an extra glisten to the tall Yakusugi trees; as your eyes trail from the roots, to the aged barks and finally the top canopy where shafts of light dance through the leaves."
